Integrations - Google My Business Publishing Troubleshooting

In this guide, we'll help you troubleshoot any issues you might encounter when publishing content on Google My Business (GMB).

Considerations for Publishing on GMB

Choosing the Right Image Ratio:

Images play a crucial role in engaging your audience on social platforms like GMB. When adding images to your GMB listing, it's important to follow certain guidelines regarding image ratios:

  • Images should be in JPG or PNG format.
  • The size of the image should range from 10 KB to 5 MB.
  • Minimum resolution should be 250x250 pixels.
  • Ensure that the photo is relevant to your product or business, and avoid posting unrelated images.

Verify Your GMB Location

Before you can successfully publish a post on GMB, your location needs to be verified. After listing your location on GMB, ensure that you've verified your business location. You can check the status of your location by navigating to "Manage location" or "Social Planner" and looking for the "verified" or "unverified" status.

Limitations on Posting for Businesses with Multiple Locations

If you're trying to post content for a business with more than 10 locations, you might encounter limitations. GMB does not allow posting for businesses with over 10 locations. If you try to add content for such businesses, you'll receive a message stating, "This location belongs to a chain. The Local Post API is disabled for this location."

This error occurs because GMB restricts posting through its API for businesses with numerous locations. According to GMB guidelines, brands with 10 or more locations are ineligible for posting. To resolve this issue, ensure that you've selected fewer than 10 locations for each brand during integration.
